Updates to site/server
Thank you for visiting www.centralpascanner.com!
I will update this page with any updates to the server or scanner as it happens, which, I hope doesn't happen too often...but nonetheless here's the updates.

Great news! The Mifflin County server is now up and broadcasting! You can listen to it separately or together with Juniata County via the links across the top of the sites. Any questions, get at me! Thank you again for listening!

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, it does! Central PA Scanner is now split the traffic of Mifflin and Juniata Counties into two separate websites. This allows listeners to listen to either Mifflin or Juniata Counties separately OR both at the same time if they still wish. This will also help eliminate problems with missing radio traffic from either county having traffic at the same time. The Mifflin County server should be up shortly. I have the Juniata County server running at this time. I hope everyone is enjoying their scanner listening as much as I enjoy bringing you the action of the Fire and EMS services around me. Thank you for listening and if you have any problems with the server let me know right away and I will try to resolve the issue. Thank you!

I am happy to announce that CentralPaScanner is now faster than ever! I am lucky enough to have a friend who works at a server company that has a lot of bandwidth to support the traffic. I now just upload one stream of data from my scanner server to his server and then his server rebroadcasts the stream to you! What does this mean for you? For one - faster page load time. Little to no buffer time! A continuous stream and clearer audio/better bitrate. The website and data rebroadcast are all hosted on his site which had multiple power/data fail safe backups, so, unless MY internet connection is down, this site should be up any time you wish to access it. Thank you again for listening!

After many hours of sifting through code and trying to figure Java out, I have finally finished the web-based player webpage. The link can be found on the main page or right here. This page will open into a new browser window and may ask you to "run" a java player. Go ahead and click run. Once everything is running, the player will appear on the web page and start playing, you don't have to do anything. If you need Java and don't have it, go here and the Java website will detect if you have Java or need it installed and if you need it, will install it then you can view the new webpage. I believe everything should be stable from here on out. Thank you again and again for listening to my scanner and if you feel like donating to the cause, contact me.

I have once again update my server. This time I believe it's permanent and appears to be working wonderfully. I came upon a new found friend in Maryland that has a scanner feed site and he let me in on some information that helped me greatly. I'm using Icecast/SimpleCast now for my encoder and broadcaster. I'm working on adding Alpha Tags so you can view which channel is talking while you listen! Again, Thanks for listening!

I fixed the error with the Media Player not showing up for FireFox Web Browser users. I am again using Shoutcast until I can find a cure for the Windows Media Encoder crash problem that seems to plague my server. Any questions or comments email me at gstottle@gmail.com. Thank you for listening!

I switched the audio encoder back to Windows Media Encoder (WME) because Shoutcast's was sucking up way too much bandwidth. I hope I don't have any problems with this server crashing but I'll check it daily to make sure. Thank you for listening!

I was informed over the weekend that my server would play for a little while and then boot the listener off. I believe I fixed the problem. The server is currently using WinAmp's Shoutcast Server instead of Microsoft Windows Media Encoder (WME). WME seemed to keep crashing but I have not had any problems with the ShoutCast server. I've updated the embeded Windows Media Player on the website to work with Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator and Firefox Web Browsers. If you have any problems, email me right away so I can beging to solve the problem.

Both servers are now online and centralpascanner.com is now again fully online. Thank you for all the faithful listeners and spread the word about this website. Also, if you can, donate to centralpascanner.com to help me make your listening experience better!

I recently changed my server around and am in the process of getting a second server online. The current server can only run one website at a time and I had to sacrifice one site over another and unfortunately more people go to www.mifflintownhose.org than this scanner website so I added a link on Mifflintown's website for the time being.
Also, I removed Snyder County from the scanner. I don't think a lot of people logged on to listen to Snyder County. I am trying to purchase a scanner that decodes the PL tones faster than the one I am currently using. If you would like to donate money towards the scanner, it would be greatly appreciated!
