About Central PA Scanner

First off, I would like to say "Thank You" for visiting my website and taking the time to listen and read this about page.

My name is Greg Stottle. I am a Firefighter/EMT from Juniata County, PA. I've been active in the fire service for 9 years and active in EMS for over 7 years.

The idea for my website actually came from TheBravest.com FDNY's scanner feed. I liked the idea so much I read up on how to make an online scanner, which actually wasn't all that hard.

The scanner servers are home built servers that I built myself. The scanners are both Uniden Bearcat BC895XLTs which are attached to an external discone antenna that I got from radioshack and it actually works rather well. They both do PLs so either server doesn't have to listen to other county's traffic. The scanners are then connected to their respective server's sound cards and each server runs a special program that broadcasts a single stream of data to my friend's main server which you all connect to. His server has a lot more bandwidth than I do and will support up to 100 listeners each! When you want to listen to the server you are actually connecting to my friend's server which rebroadcasts the information to your computer.

I am happy to bring these server pages to you free of charge. If you would like to donate to my servers for any upgrade fees I am endure, please let me know. There are many sites out there that make you pay for their online servers and I'm glad to be able to do this for free.
